Saint Elizabeth Regional School Wellness Policy
Dear Charger Families,
The Pennsylvania Department of Education State Law, #108-265 has required all schools in Pennsylvania that are enrolled in National School Lunch Program to implement a School Wellness Policy effective with the 2022-2023 school year. In 2017, a Wellness Committee worked together to construct our policy as we have it today. The following are just a few guidelines that will enable us to comply with these policies:
- Please pack a small, healthy snack for your child each day.
- NO fast food or sodas are permitted to be eaten for snack or lunch.
- Class parties are to be held in the afternoon only and have minimal amount of food served containing added sugar.
- There are no Birthday Celebrations permitted in school. There are no cakes, cupcakes, or juice drinks allowed to be brought in for birthday celebrations.
- Birthday celebrations may include a snack items individually wrapped one for each student, to be brought home. Treats are not to be opened in the classroom.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education stresses portion control for non-nutritious foods. All goodie bags leftover from a celebration will be sent back home with the child who brought them. We ask for your full cooperation in this matter as we strive to meet the requirements set in the School Wellness Policy and to provide better nutrition and wellness for all the children at Saint Elizabeth Regional School.

Welcome to the St. Elizabeth Regional School Lunch Program. We offer healthy, balanced lunches to our students. You have the option of sending lunch in with your student or preordering a lunch prepared by the cafeteria staff.
To participate in our lunch program, please follow the steps below:
All lunch menus must be completely filled out (one per student) and returned by the due date.
- Include your child’s full name
- Include your child’s grade
- Mark your child’s menu selections by circling the desired day(s) that they will be eating cafeteria provided lunch
- Count the number of days your child will be ordering each month and enter it on the bottom of the form
- Fill in the amount of money being paid, whether it is cash or check
Cut the form along the dotted line to return to the school. Keep the calendar part home for reference.
All orders and payment should be placed in an envelope with your child’s name and grade on the front.
All orders must have EXACT change for payment with the order. No change will be given. Please make checks payable to St. Elizabeth Regional School.
There will be no credit for lunches that your child misses due to absence or any other reasons. The cafeteria prepares sufficient food based on the preorders, and is unable to adjust quantities.
Any family applying for free or reduced lunches must completely fill out the government application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals Family Application. This form is sent home at the beginning of the year. When filling out the application, include all members living at that address, all income from adults and children living at that address, and the total number of persons living in the household. If the form is incomplete it will delay processing, and parents will be required to pay the full amount for lunches until approval is received by the school from Compass. Please note that Free and Reduced lunch applications must be completed each year, and they do not automatically carry over year to year.
In an emergency, your child will receive a lunch for which you will be billed. Payment must be made to the office the following day. Place your payment in an envelope with your child’s name, grade, and the date of the unordered lunch.
