OCIA (formerly RCIA)

Order of Christian Initiation is a process for welcoming new members into the Catholic Church.

OCIA is for Adults (18 years of older) who are:

-Not Baptized

-Baptized in another Christian Church and interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith

-Baptized into the Catholic Faith but have not received First Eucharist or Confirmation

-Or wish to learn more about our Catholic Faith

WHAT IS OCIA?

OCIA is a direct result of Vatican II which called for a revival of the Adult Catechumenate.  This goes back to the early traditions of the Church where the Apostles welcomed newcomers into the community of faith.  OCIA is the way all our Catholic communities throughout the world will be initiating newcomers into the Catholic faith community.

St Elizabeth parish OCIA classes meet each Tuesday evening beginning in September, culminating in full union at the Easter vigil.

Four out of five individuals who investigate the Catholic community do so because friends, relatives or neighbors extend personal invitations.  Spread the good news by inviting someone.
